Blogs at UMass Amherst Unavailable Wed., 7/25 , 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Blogs at UMass Amherst will be unavailable on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 from approximately 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. while the Office of Information Technologies (OIT) upgrades WordPress, our blogging software.

This update of Blogs at UMass Amherst introduces WordPress 3.4, which includes a new theme customizer, the ability to re-use images from your blog’s Media Library, embed Twitter messages, and add image captions. All these improvements help you have more control over the appearance and function of your blog. Learn more more about WordPress 3.4 “Green.”

New Version Now Available

The latest version of Blogs at UMass Amherst comes with many new features, including a drag-and-drop file uploader, a more compact look for the dashboard, and a design that displays on small-screen devices (e.g., iPads and smartphones). Blogs at UMass: What’s New in WordPress 3.3

OIT performed this upgrade to stay current with the latest improvements and security updates from WordPress. All blogs’ content (e.g., blog posts, images, plugins, themes, etc.) has been transferred from the old version to the new.
